The mission of the Humane Society of Yuma: To reduce the number of homeless pets through adoption, rescue, and spay and neuter programs.

History – Since 1963 the Humane Society of Yuma has been dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of orphaned and homeless animals and the elimination of pet overpopulation. The Humane Society of Yuma is a 501 C(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals.  We are funded by donations, bequests, grants and other fundraising activities as well as municipal kenneling contracts. The Humane Society of Yuma is managed by a hired staff and governed by a Board of Directors.  Through education, media coverage, legislation, adoption of pets, rescue of animals in distress, and sponsor of spay/neuter programs, the Humane Society of Yuma continues to work to improve the welfare and protection of our companion animals.

Programs – Low cost vaccination and rabies licensing clinics.  Low/no cost spay/neuter and TNR clinics.  Low cost microchipping.   Elementary education program on the humane treatment of animals and the link between animal abuse and domestic abuse.  Thrift store - all profits are designated for low cost spay/neutering.  4-Paws Pantry program – to provide pet food for low income families.  The Humane Society of Yuma is the only animal shelter in all of Yuma County.  Our goal is to ensure that the pets in Yuma, San Luis, Somerton, Wellton and all of the 5,500 square miles of Yuma County, including the Cocopah and Quechan Indian Nations, receive vaccinations.
