The Humanities Council's programming models use history, art criticism, ethics, literature, civic engagement and other humanities disciplines to help residents understand the social, cultural, historical, and ethical context of our times and to provide them the tools to take meaningful action to advance their communities. Additionally, the HCWDC has a commitment to serving the local population with in-depth educational programs examining the cultural life of all of the District’s neighborhoods and communities.  Toward that end, the HCWDC works with community partners and social leaders, encouraging then to embrace the D.C. cultural renaissance and collaborate with us to develop intercultural, bridge-building activities that raise cultural consciousness.
