AVA began as a small organization dedicated to helping survivors and secondary survivors of sexual violence.  As we worked to raise awareness and educate on issues surrounding sexual violence, more information and assistance was requested of us for other needs.

Seeing these requests in our community as a gap in needs, we have since expanded our mission to include child abuse and  neglect, relationship abuse, and bullying.

We began working with the National and Nevada Court Appointed Special Advocates to implement a CASA program in Humboldt County.  Working together with other local agencies and judges, we have received our provisional membership with the National CASA program.  As our youth and family court system is tri-county, our CASA program will also cover Lander and Pershing Counties.

AVA provides 24/7 community advocacy, including crisis intervention, sexual assault support services, legal advocacy, and misc. emergency assistance.

While we have expanded our mission and goals to fill community needs, we continue to receive requests for help relating to many other issues and concerns.  We turn no one away and work to provde as many resources and referrals as possible to ensure everyone, regardless of need, receives assistance.
