Mission

Since 1965, the Huron River Watershed Council has been working to inspire attitudes, behaviors, and economies that protect, rehabilitate and sustain the Huron River System.

Programs

The Huron River Watershed Council programs include the Adopt-A-Stream Program which enables citizens to protect the Huron River through an education and volunteer monitoring activities; the Information and Education project which targets pollution prevention through mass media and direct mail;The Middle Huron and Upper Huron Initiatives which are a watershed based community strategies to reduce pollution through implementation of appropriate management practices and planning;Conservation Planning for the Huron Watershed is a program that in performing an inventory and prioritizing critical habitats and open spaces that maintain the hydrologic function of the Huron River Watershed, and important natural and cultural features;and Promoting an Informed Community is a collaborative program to improve local land use planning and develo9pment processes, and encourage sustainable communities.
