Our History

Clear Horizons Academy was founded in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) public charity to increase the educational opportunities for children with autism living in Utah. Members of the Brent and Kathryn Wood family who became keenly aware of the limited resources available for children with autism when a young grandchild was diagnosed with the disorder initially founded the nonprofit. Realizing that the challenges they faced in finding adequate treatment and educational instruction for their family members as she grew was shared by many others, the family resolved to create a learning center where the needs of children with autism could be met and accessed readily by families in Utah county and surrounding communities.

What We Do

Clear Horizons operates a Pre-K through 10th grade school with a curriculum and a professional staff that uses individualized instruction as a foundation. When Clear Horizons first opened its doors, it started with a single class of seven students. We have since grown to 45 students in six different classes with the capacity to accommodate over 100 students as we receive more funding. Our students benefit from our integrated model of speech, behavioral and occupational therapies to create a comprehensive approach to treating autism.

Clear Horizons also provides training opportunities to students attending local universities on how to best educate children with autism so they leave their studies prepared to meet the professional demands ahead. Students from BYU and UVU benefit from our training and are exposed to the most current interventions designed for children with autism.
