Irish Channel Neighborhood Association

The Irish Channel Neighborhood Association consists of a group of dedicated and concerned neighbors working together towards a better quality of life for all its residents. The Neighborhood Improvement Association of the Irish Channel, Inc. (also known as the Irish Channel Neighborhood Association, or ICNA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Louisiana.

The purpose and objectives of the organization are centered on improving the living conditions and overall quality of life for the Neighborhood and its residents, which includes both property owners and tenants. A key function of the organization is to serve as a distribution point for information, ensuring that residents stay informed about important issues affecting the community. Additionally, the organization provides opportunities for dialogue on neighborhood concerns, fostering open communication among residents.

Preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of the Neighborhood is a fundamental goal, as is advocating for the interests of the community through engagement with the City of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana, and various governmental and non-governmental entities, including nonprofit organizations, private businesses, and the news media. Strengthening relationships between residents and law enforcement is also a priority, with efforts focused on crime monitoring and prevention, including the potential implementation of a neighborhood watch program.
