Idaho Center for Sustainable Agriculture Inc

OUR GOAL on May 5th, 2016 will be to raise $15,000 to fund an education and outreach campaign aimed at helping farmers make the transition to no-till farming, cover cropping, pasture-raised livestock, and regenerative agriculture!

Your contributions will go directly to organizing efforts across the state in rural and urban communities and start conversations that plant seeds for a regenerative agriculture future in Idaho.

This year a priority is connecting shoppers to Idaho farmers and ranchers. We can all vote with our dollars and bring sustainable food to our tables.  

On December 5th 2016, our Annual Symposium will be held at the new JUMP complex in Boise.

We are bringing in a speaker who knows about connecting with shoppers. 

Blaine Hitzfeld is from Seven Sons Family Farms in Indiana.  He has helped build his small family operation in central Indiana to one that covers the entire state including Chicago. Along the way he specialized in connecting with consumers.  His insights will greatly help the farmers/ranchers in Idaho.

Organization Mission

• Promote local food systems that support healthy people and boost local economies;
• Create and facilitate opportunities for new and existing farming entrepreneurs;
• Organize discussions/forums on the future of farming.

 

Our History

In 2009, a small group interested in sustainable agriculture formed the ICSA and hosted the first Sustainable Agriculture Symposium in 2010. Our symposium started as a half-day class on soil health with speakers like Doug Weatherbee and Marlon Winger from our Idaho NRCS office.

Over the years, our symposium has now grown to host over 400 participants with national speakers such as Joel Salatin and Gabe Brown.

We continue to organize and support educational opportunities for farmers and have expanded our educational programs to include a Grazing Field Day and smaller educational events across the state.
