Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit Inc

A nonprofit organization

$1,655 raised by 19 donors

Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue is a 100% all volunteer organization that was established in 1959.  The Unit consists of 100 active volunteers.  Every one of these individuals is dedicated to volunteering their time to our community when called out for a Search, Rescue, Recovery, Safety Awareness Class or other Community Support.  It is important to know that all requests for assistance by official sources are free.  We have never charged to help those in need.

Many individuals believe that this unit is a job to go to on a daily basis, however, no one who participates in the unit is a paid employee, this includes the individuals on the Board of Directors.  All individuals purchase and own their own personal equipment and gear.

IMSARU does not receive any State or Federal Funding.  The Unit thrives on donations for operation and training purposes.  We have one major fundraiser each year by selling "Hot Buttered Corn" at the Western Idaho Fair.

All members are categorized as Certified Search Technicians, known as Ground Pounder's, however there are exceptional individuals who also participate in Specialty Teams such as:   Technical Rescue Team, Mantracking Team, K-9 Search Team, Mountain Bike Team, and Operations Team.

IMSARU also participates every year in the Race to Robie Creek, providing First Aid Stations, race wide communications, and works closely with the EMS providers for specialized treatment.

IMSARU volunteers participate in thousands of hours of training annually, most of it at their own expense, to ensure we are all properly trained and prepared when we are called out for Search and Rescue Services. This training can cost each individual many thousands of dollars out of pocket.

An all volunteer organization, dedicated to savings lives through Search, Rescue and Mountain Safety Education, is our Mission Statement and who we are, and we enjoy serving our community.

Every donation counts, remember donations as low as $10 adds up, and allows for us to continue to purchase needed Unit gear.  It also allows for needed training to remain up to date on Search, Rescue and Education techniques which allows us to continue serving our community when someone needs help.

If you love the outdoors or ever venture into Mountains or Wilderness, your donation is well spent supporting this cause.  You never know when you or a loved one will need our help.
