IORC issue areas include agriculture, natural resources, and homegrown prosperity. IORC campaigns focus on opposing those industrial practices that negatively harm both the environmental and economic stability of communities, and organizing around those practices that build up individuals and communities through sustainable and just practices.

Through a community organizing structure, IORC is working to build the movement in the state by recruiting members and developing new leaders.  IORC concentrates on building membership in areas that are normally underrepresented, including rural and low-income areas and constituents such as family farmers.  By recruiting members in these areas, providing leadership development, and encouraging civic and community engagement, IORC actions change the power structure in local communities. IORC members develop and implement strategic and innovative plans and actions to influence decision makers.
