About Us

We are a US Charity. We believe in the essential dignity of all human beings, regardless of national origin, ethnicity, gender or religion. 

The Ihsan Foundation funds educational, health and humanitarian projects in West Africa. Since its incorporation in 1997, it has focused its work on Sierra Leone, where a ten-year war devastated what already was the world’s poorest country.

The Alfajr Mission of Sierra Leone has been Ihsan’s principal implementing local NGO in Sierra Leone.

In 2004, Ihsan started expanding its work to other West African countries, notably, Guinea and Cameroon; and in partnership with the Hidaya Foundation, Ihsan initiated relief and development projects in Niger in 2005.
