Ilé Aña Olofí

A nonprofit organization

Ilé Aña (Anya) Olofí wants us to work together to strengthen & share the beauty of African Diaspora religious traditions while using them to create pathways for positive change. Ongoing projects: 1) Iroko Historical Scoiety The Iroko Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Afro-diasporic heritage by safeguarding writings, texts, images, libretas, and music contributed by practitioners, elders, and scholars. We strive to provide access to this rich repository for advanced scholars and researchers while fostering a vibrant community where scholar-practitioners can connect, collaborate, and celebrate our collective efforts.

Ile Aña Olofí is a shared spiritual journey. It represents what I see as the most important pillars of the Lucumi religion as it has developed up to today. Aña, the Orisa of the drum, and Olofí, the Orisha manifesting the Almighty. With Aña, every Olorisha must undergo a sacred, ritual presentation to Aña. Aña announces the new priest to the heavens and confirms their initiation. With Olofí, every man that seeks to become a Babalawo must see this Orisha. Without these two orisas, our religion would not have grown, at least as we know and love it today.
