Illinois Agricultural Resource Council Inc

The Illinois Harvest Dinner is an effort founded by Jenny Schweigert, Katie Pratt and Mary Faber. The mission of this project is to connect people to the farmers producing Illinois' food, fuel and fiber. The Illinois Agricultural Resource Council, is serving as the in-like kind, fiscal sponsor.

According to a 2014 study of consumers from around the U.S., people want to know more about the origins of their food but have no connection to farmers. In Illinois, we are working to grow connections between consumers and the people behind our food by hosting the Illinois Harvest Dinner at Tri Pork Farms, September 7, 2016.

The 2015, inaugural event provided countless opportunities for dialogue centered around agriculture. Among those discussions, attendees asked their most pressing questions pertaining to our food. The audience included professional medical staff, parents, government officials, dietitians and farmers. The effort successfully connected attendees to production agriculture and changed their perceptions of food produced in our state. The targeted area included but was not limited to Bloomington/Normal, Peoria and Chicago.

Your support will assist in facilitating the second annual dinner. The meal will feature Illinois sourced products and dialogue which will provide a connection between growers and consumers. Donations will be used to purchase the food, rental of table settings, decor, invitations, menus, caterer, event planning assistance and a small gift for each attendee.
