Many Many kids have no idea of the world outside their little hamlets or villages. They are curious, they are hungry for food and education. And over the past two decades there has been someone to help. ILP( India Literacy Project) has been doing some unique work in several parts of India to unlock the potential by funding innovative methods of funding, organizing and empowering communities for long term impact.

A story from Orissa

Before ILP's involvement, the school was mostly unattended. Government teachers hardly show up, kids have better things to do than read and adults don't see the cause and effect between schooling and life skills.

There are language and cultural barriers. The key to a long term commitment to literacy in such places is not to contribute to help build a library or provide for a nicer school. The most important determinant of success is to educate the community and empower them to champion a sustainable path for primary education. The adults have to be committed for life to send their kids to school not just for a day or month or year. They need to buy into the concept of schooling and its benefits. This is what ILP and their NGOs do. This is why your contributions have a very high life time value

You are not impacting a building or one kid or one family but you are impacting a generation, you are impacting a community, a village or a set of villages for years to come!
