VolunteerMatch is a web-based service that uses the power of the Internet to refer volunteers directly to community service organizations with specific needs. Hosting the web's largest network of volunteer opportunities, VolunteerMatch acts as a vibrant, interactive communications and volunteer recruitment tool for nonprofits and tax-exempt organizations. Potential volunteers visiting www.volunteermatch.org simply input their ZIP code, interests, and time availability, and instantly receive a personalized list of local, up-to-date volunteer opportunities. With a simple click of the mouse, Volunteers can then refer themselves to the organization and volunteer opportunity of their choice. Organizations using VolunteerMatch publish their volunteer needs directly to the Internet, recruit new volunteers, and communicate with current volunteers. A tracking feature allows these organizations to generate up-to-the-minute reports on volunteer activity. In addition, community service organizations use VolunteerMatch as a marketing tool-a space on the Internet to publish their mission statement, contact information, and web address to a directory of community service organizations. The ease and simplicity of the service have already generated more than 3,000,000 volunteer referrals to 50,000+ community service organizations, helping address real-world needs nationwide. VolunteerMatch Corporate is the private, co-branded version of VolunteerMatch. Employees of for-profit companies that license VolunteerMatch Corporate, simply log on to their intranet and enter ZIP code, schedule and interests, such as reading to kids or feeding the hungry, to receive an up-to-date listing of available volunteer opportunities. Just as with the public service, employees click on an opportunity of interest to sign up and volunteer. While VolunteerMatch is a free service for volunteers and nonprofits, VolunteerMatch Corporate, clients pay an annual membership fee for customized access to the VolunteerMatch service and database.
