IMPACT Phoenix

IMPACT Phoenix is honored to collaborate with the faith community and human services organizations to form the Sunnyslope Community Faith Based Collaborative.  The first initiative of the Collaborative was to initiate I-HELP Sunnyslope, a model that has a proven track record in other communities to get people housed within a short period of time at one fifth the cost of traditional shelter services.   

I-HELP provides emergency lodging for up to 15 homeless male and female adults, five nights per week. Congregations open their facilities to provide a warm meal, loving fellowship, a safe place to sleep, and a sack lunch the following day for their homeless guests.  In return for a caring safe place to stay at night, our guests co-create a plan with IMPACT Phoenix staff to end their homelessness and diligently work that plan during the day, utilizing community resources.  Our  goal is for at least 100 individuals experiencing homelessness to gain housing within 90 days each year.

You and I take personal hygiene for granted.  We just walk down the hall and take a shower or wash our clothes.  Our guests don't have that convenience because our I-HELP host churches don't have shower and washer/dryer facilities. 

That's why bringing this benefit to each church at night is crucial. The shower/washer/dryer trailer will follow our guests to the night host church where they can get this all important basic need.  It will have 4 shower stalls and an area to wash their clothes. 

Our guests are excited because they feel they'll be better prepared to tackle their plan to end their homelessness if they and their clothes are clean. It's a feeling of self-respect restored. They'll feel clean and normal, less judged, and confident about a job interview and gaining employment.
