Since its establishment in 2003, Increasing H.O.P.E (Helping Others Prosper Economically) has been unwavering in its commitment to fostering financial freedom and stability for families in South Carolina. The organization operates as a comprehensive resource, offering a diverse range of services aimed at empowering individuals, families, and entrepreneurs to achieve economic prosperity.

The core mission of Increasing H.O.P.E is reflected in its one-stop shop for financial education and training. Through initiatives such as credit counseling, first-time homebuyer assistance, foreclosure prevention, free tax preparation (VITA), and small business support, the organization addresses a spectrum of financial needs. Dorothea Bernique, the Founder and Executive Director of Increasing H.O.P.E, plays a pivotal role in the organization's collaboration with the FEC Academy team. As a longstanding partner with the City, Dorothea and Increasing H.O.P.E have actively contributed to the Bank on Charleston Collaborative, demonstrating a dedication to community engagement and a partnership-oriented approach. Dorothea's expertise has been instrumental in bringing opportunities to the attention of the city and contributing to the application process.

The organization's impact is tangible, particularly in the notable achievements of the past year (2023). The suite of services provided by the One Stop Shop, which includes Financial Literacy Training, Housing, Credit, I-HOPE Women’s Business Center, and Business Success Center, has reached over 700 clients. This signifies a meaningful contribution to the financial well-being of individuals and families in the community.

The emphasis on group financial education training and one-on-one counseling has resulted in concrete outcomes. The provision of services has facilitated the establishment of 21 new homeowners, illustrating the practical impact of Increasing H.O.P.E's efforts in promoting home ownership and financial stability. Additionally, the organization's commitment to community service is evident in the provision of free tax preparation services, which has resulted in a significant return of $654,564.00 to the community.

The cumulative impact of these programs is substantial, with a total financial uplift of $1,534,839.
