Independence Animal Services

The Health and Animal Services department for the City of Independence Missouri operates the municipal animal shelter at 21001 E MO 78 HWY, serving Independence and unincorporated Jackson County. Our department's mission is to protect the safety and welfare of people and animals in our community by promoting an environment of responsible pet ownership. To achieve our mission, we will strive to take a leadership role in promoting humane care for animals in the community, promote spay and neuter initiatives to reduce pet overpopulation, make every effort to reunite pets with their families, and promote efforts to increase pet retention.
