Today was heavy.

Erin sat in her car, eyes closed, breathing deep. A double shift behind her. The extra money would help—but it was never enough. The gas gauge hovered just above empty. It had to last all week. It was only Tuesday.

“It’s ok,” she whispered. “It has to be.”

On the drive home, she called her son. He was finishing the casserole she’d left.

“How was your day?” she asked.

“Good. Yours?” he replied, thoughtful beyond his nine years.

Since his father died, it had been just the two of them. Erin loved being a stay-at-home mom, but now her high school diploma only went so far. Going back to school felt out of reach. Nick needed her. He struggled to fit in, to connect. He tried—but it was hard.

“Where’s Grandma?”

“She fell asleep watching TV.”

Her mother helped when she could, but at 75, she couldn’t keep up. Summer was coming, and she had no plan—just the fear of what another isolated season might do to her son.

“I’ll be home soon. Save me a plate?”

“Sure. I’ll take out the mushrooms since you don’t like them.”

Erin smiled through tears. He deserved so much more.

Pulling into the driveway, her phone pinged. An email. Low-cost summer camps. She recognized the photos—kids with animals, smiling in the sun. She’d heard about this sanctuary. Her coworker’s daughter had loved it.

She scrolled.

The price? Lower than most but still out of reach.

Her heart sank—until she saw it: Scholarships Available.

Hope surged. Maybe, just maybe, this summer would be different. Erin walked inside—for the first time in a long time—hopeful.

Today, on NEPA Gives Day, you have the power to give that same hope.

You might know us for the thousands of animals we’ve rescued—abused, neglected, abandoned farm animals who find safety, healing, and home at Indraloka. Maybe you’ve met Dominic, the big pig who escaped slaughter because a kind human saw him trembling beneath a pile of hay and chose to save him. Maybe your child came to summer camp and came home buzzing with stories—not about screens, but about sheep snuggles, muddy games, and newfound courage. Maybe you’ve even brought your beloved companion to our NEPA Rescue Veterinary Clinic for care.

But Indraloka is more than a sanctuary for animals.
It’s a sanctuary for people, too.

Because life is hard—no matter who you are. Even the happiest of us face trauma: grief, violence, heartbreak, illness. These moments demand something of us. They ask us to either transmit our pain… or transcend it. The animals here, many who’ve endured unthinkable suffering, remind us daily: it’s possible to choose healing. It’s possible to trust again.

Your gift makes our life-changing programs possible. You’ll help children like Nick experience a joyful, healing summer. You’ll support moms like Erin, doing their best with too few options. And you’ll ensure that hundreds of animals—and thousands of people—continue to find peace, purpose, and compassion at Indraloka.

Whether it’s a mother escaping abuse, a family mourning the loss of a child, or a newborn calf rescued from slaughter—Indraloka is where healing begins.

Your gift today doesn’t just change lives. It restores them.

Let’s make this NEPA Gives Day a day of hope—for everyone.
For the animals. For the children. For the caregivers.
For our whole community.

Give today. Heal tomorrow.
