Too many children in the Inland Empire live in homes with few or no books and attend schools and programs where books-to-take-home are in short supply. Encouraging children to read is futile when books are not available.

The IECBP provides books to teachers and organizations serving children in need.  Since opening our doors in Spring of 2015 we have provided more than 22,000 books free of charge to schools and organizations serving children 0-18. During our start-up phase we have focused our efforts on the San Bernardino City Unified School District and are currently located at Jones Elementary in San Bernardino. It is our goal to serve the entire Inland Empire.

Many of the children who receive our books have never had a book of their own and they are so excited to receive their first one to take home and read over and over again. One boy in particular announced to his mother, after receiving one book from the IECBP, that he would need a bookcase in his room to house what would become his book collection.

Teachers report improved reading scores as a result of students being able to read nightly at home. One middle school teacher boasted that a group of his male students were excitedly talking about their new books on a school trip when before they would talk about video games, tv shows or something else entirely.

Please give the gift of literacy to San Bernardino students today!
