Innocent Justice Foundation

The Innocent Justice Foundation (TIJF) is 501(c)(3) charitable organization working to help eradicate child sexual exploitation and abuse by offering mental health and wellness training and resources to support justice and other professionals exposed to traumatic materials and events, or the stories of victims in the work environment. 

In addition, we work to educate the public about vicarious trauma and the epidemic of child exploitation and abuse materials in the United States. Our belief is that law enforcement, first responders and other health and human services professionals must be supported to meet the challenge of rescuing victims, stopping predators, educating communities, and slowing the astronomical pace of the production of child exploitation material. 

TIJF has provided vicarious trauma mitigation training and wellness programs for Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force teams and their affiliates across the country since 2009 with SHiFT, Supporting Heroes in mental health Foundational Training. Since the establishment of the SHiFT program we have supported over 30,000 heroes nationally working to save children and put predators behind bars.

Helping Advocates Rebound from Trauma - HART was launched in 2020 to support community heroes; law enforcement, child and victim advocates, health and human service workers, emergency and first responders, and others who are exposed to the trauma of others in the work they do. We have trained heroes from MADD, Child Advocacy Centers. Emergency Medical Technicians, CASA Volunteers, Trafficking Survivor Organizations, Law Enforcement, and First Responders, both locally in San Diego County where we are located, and nationally too!

Vicarious trauma can be catastrophic for many professionals, resulting in burn-out, depression and sometimes suicide. We work to support community heroes by offering free programs that help them to learn to identify and mitigate vicarious trauma. We are working to grow our HART program in San Diego County and support more heroes, but to keep our programming free, we rely on donors like you, who want to make a difference and support community heroes too.

When we support the heroes, they can save more children.
