The Problem

Right now, the vast majority of Silicon Valley's Latino, African-American and low-income students are being left behind, unready for college and unable to compete in the new economy. In this region, just 20% of Latino students graduate high school in four years with the credits to enter a state university.

Our Approach

We have some excellent public schools in the region serving low-income students and students of color, but we don’t have enough of them. Thousands of students are waiting for the world-class public schools that they deserve.

Innovate Public Schools leverages the power of local parents and educators to take on this challenge:

  • We provide training and support for parents in high-need communities so they can effectively advocate for better schools.
  • We work with educators from both school districts and charter schools to launch new schools and turn around low-performing schools.
  • We publish easy-to-understand school quality data and research to highlight problems and what works to improve schools.

We’re building a movement of parents, educators and community leaders who together will make this vision a reality.

Will you join us?

No one can make a better case for why this work is important than students.

"I'm asking the community to believe in us."

That's what high school student Laura Arrayaga Gonzalez told the mayor, county supervisor and 300 community members at our latest community action forum. See the video.
