The Road Home Dane County

The Road Home Dane County is committed to developing long-term relationships with homeless families with children that can change lives.  We work with families, not only to relieve the immediate crisis of homelessness, but also to build skills, resources and relationships that set the stage for long-term success. 

Families like Carrie's. She and her sons, Journey, age 15, and Thylas, age 12, overcame unexpected homelessness with the help of case managers, first in The Road Home shelter program and then in the agency's Housing & Hope program which offers affordable rents.

“With the stability of housing, I increased my work hours to full time,” says Carrie. “I proved to myself and to the program that I could pay rent each monthin full and on time.  My boys’ grades improved with stable housing and they both made the honor roll!” 

Based on Carrie’s success in paying rent on time and the skills she learned at The Road Home, she recently moved out of Housing & Hope and rented a condo closer to her work.
