Religious Diversity Journeys

Since 2002, Religious Diversity Journeys (RDJ) has provided a unique immersive interfaith educational experience for hundreds of Detroit-area middle school students annually. Students spend a day at each of five houses of worship where they learn about a faith community’s holidays, customs, pillars of belief, and life-cycle celebrations. As a result of the pandemic, Religious Diversity Journeys became an online interactive, multi-media program with robust information about metro Detroit’s religious communities and histories. RDJ Anywhere enables students to participate at any time from home or school. Plans are underway to return to an in-person program for the 2022-23 school year.

Bridging to Belonging: An InterFaith Community Values Project

Metropolitan Detroit is a diverse region with residents of many different religious, ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds. Its differences have too often become barriers to cooperation and friendship, sometimes leading to discrimination, antagonism and a polarized community. Through a new initiative connecting faith community values to the work of understanding each other The InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit seeks to bring faith leaders and other local residents together to define positive faith community values and develop friendships leading to an action-oriented commitment to the common good. IFLC values our values. Join us on this new journey of learning!
