International Action Group For Sustainable Development

A nonprofit organization

It broke my heart to see the children drinking water from a river contaminated with animal feces. It’s not right to see children carrying a rock to school so they would have a seat in class. I did not know what to say or do, but I could not go back to the U.S. and simply return to the life I had been living. My family is not rich, but we are blessed with work, my daughters go to school, we are all healthy, we have a place to stay, we have ways of transportation, clothes etc; our life is way better than some people in my homeland.

I was disturbed throughout the trip and afterwards at what I have seen. It was so deep that I knew that my life was taking a new course and that I now have a new purpose. Unsure of what to do, I prayed and discussed my concerns and desires to my family. One evening, I felt inspired to start a nonprofit organization that would help the children in Haiti to have access to education, health care and balanced nutrition.  I shared my thoughts with my family who voiced caution but I knew deep inside that God would provide as he always does.

“Children for a New Haiti” resides in Columbia, MO and is governed by a board of Directors.  We are currently supporting children in 4 areas in Haiti: Port-au-Prince, Milot, Lascahobas and Dos-Palais.

The next morning, I started gathering information on how to start a nonprofit organization and a few weeks later, “International Action Group for Sustainable Development” also known as “Children for a New Haiti” was created with the mission to give HOPE (Health - Opportunity - Physical - Education) to Haitian children, through education and physical support, for a better life.

We are grateful that you have taken the time to read about us. We have a long list of things that we would like to accomplish for the children in Haiti. We would like for them to have the taste of a normal live with a regular school building, access to clean water, medical staff, and good nutrition. We would be so honored if you can join hands with us to bring hope in the life of these children. Our staff is committed to excellence, to promote sustainable programs, to empower individuals and communities, to transparency. We need your help and we can guarantee you that together we can bring hope for life to the children in Haiti.

Our sponsorship program matches children with sponsors here in the U.S whom agreed to pay $40/month or $120/quarterly or $480/year. From it a small percentage is retained for administrative fee and the rest goes towards school tuition, school supplies, uniforms, books, nutrition, and basic health care. Our sponsors are kept informed regarding the progress of their children through annual report cards, school year photos, Christmas cards, and handwritten notes.

Dos-Palais, in the central plateau, is the most in need and currently has the majority of the sponsored children. It is a small village. Infrastructure does not exist in Dos-Palais: no electricity, no clean water, no transportation, no communication, and no medical facility.
