International Order of the Rainbow Girls

Hi Everyone! Thanks for visiting my page!

On October 10, 2010, I am going to be running in the Portland Marathon. In the 4 months leading up to race day, I will have prepared myself for what is sure to be the biggest physical challenge of my life. I will be researching what I need to wear, what I need to eat and what I need to do, to push through the pain on the road to the finish line. But most importantly, in these last 3 months, I will be RAISING MONEY for those who are not able to express in words that they need help.

I will be running to support Oregon Rainbow Girls' State Service project, KidTalk-Oregon Scottish Rite Clinics.  Oregon Scottish Rite Clinics are helping young children with communication disorders through screening, evaluation, therapy, and referral services.

Imagine a world where you know what you want but don’t have the words to express it. Imagine a world where you have the words but no matter how hard you try nobody understands you. That’s the world inhabited by as many as 10% of preschool children. They may have difficulty understanding what is said to them. Frequently they are not talking at all. If they are talking, they may use only single words or sentences that sound more like short telegrams with all of the connecting words missing. With your donation, KidTalk can continue to make a tremendous impact on children.

It's time now, that I look to MY friends and family for your support in my fundraising effort for this worthy cause. Please consider a donation no matter how big or how small.

I know that money is tight this year, but anything you can give will be appreciated. Please remember that every dollar counts! If you are still in school, or if you are looking for a modest donation suggestion, please consider $26.20 (a dollar for each mile of the marathon). And if you're able to come out on race day, I would be thrilled to see your faces cheering me on and would welcome the extra motivation.
