International Relief Teams

International Relief Teams is a nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering by providing health and other supportive services to victims of disaster, poverty, and neglect, both internationally and domestically.

Since 1988, we have deployed more than 7,500 volunteers and provided over $623 million in medicines and supplies to families in desperate need in 76 countries worldwide.

We specialize in two sets of complementary activities: disaster response and building healthy communities.

During disasters, we choose appropriate responses to leverage donor resources for maximum impact, including deploying medical and reconstruction teams, providing supplies, and financing the restoration of infrastructure.

We have been actively involved in most major natural and man-made disasters since Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic, the wildfires in California, the Ukraine Refugee Crisis, and the Turkey/Syria Earthquakes.

We also build healthy communities through health services in low-income countries, shipments of medicines to rural hospitals and clinics, and health, nutrition, and education support for vulnerable populations.

Feeding San Diego's Kids

International Relief Team’s Feeding San Diego’s Kids program has been feeding vulnerable children and their families in San Diego since 2012. Hungry children do not learn well in school, are disruptive in the classroom, and chronic malnutrition leads to cognitive damage. Our Feeding San Diego’s Kids is a weekend food assistance program for schoolchildren who have been identified as low-income and participating in daily school feeding. IRT picks up where the school lunch program leaves off by providing a consistent source of nutritious food for Saturdays and Sundays. Our volunteer teams package, and deliver the food packs to the schools, where school staff and volunteers help ensure that participating children are provided with the food. 

All funds raised through the International Relief Teams San Diego Gives campaign will be designated to support our Feeding San Diego's Kids program.
