Our Purpose:

In response to God's love, grace, and truth: The Purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is to establish and advance at colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture and God's purposes in the world.

The Campus is our Mission Field

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is a vibrant campus ministry that establishes and advances witnessing communities of students and faculty. We minister to students and faculty through small group Bible studies, large gatherings on campus, leadership training, thoughtful discipleship and life-changing conferences and events.

In 2012-2013, InterVarsity had 909 chapters on 590 campuses. Many campuses have more than one chapter, which may include separate outreaches to international students, sororities and fraternities, and ethnic minority groups, as well as career-specific graduate student chapters. During the 2012-2013 school year, 38,580 core students and faculty were actively involved in InterVarsity, 59% of the students were women and 41% men. There are 1,025 InterVarsity field staff who minister to these students and faculty.

InterVarsity traces its roots to a movement of British university students in the 1870s. The first InterVarsity chapter in the United States began in 1938 at the University of Michigan. Since InterVarsity was incorporated in 1941, thousands of students have become thoughtful presentatives of God’s kingdom and have moved into leadership roles in churches, organizations, corporations and agencies around the world.
