Invest to Protect Our Law Enforcement Officers Inc

In-Vest USA builds public awareness through the media and community events. Unfortunately, many people are still unaware of the issue, or statistics, that all police officers are given vests as part of their equipment. According to FBI statistics: nearly 40% of all officers in the US do not have a body armor vest - and of those who do, nearly 20% do not have a properly fitted vest.  

We alert the public to the problem, advocate for government solutions and build relationships with decision-makers who can help make sure that no law enforcement officer goes without a life-saving vest. One of the most dramatic ways we do this is through public vest presentation ceremonies. 

An officer not wearing a vest is 14 times more likely to be killed by a firearm than an officer wearing a vest.

A Body Armor vest must be replaced every 5 years at a cost of around $700.  This cost is not able to be covered in many rural agencies with lower tax base and often left to the officer to purchase or go without.

In-Vest USA began in 1993 when South Carolina businessman Michael Letts first learned that local law enforcement officers were not provided protective vests as a regular part of their personal equipment. 

In  2003  In-Vest  USA went national,  and in 2004 the organization was named  one of the Top 10 Angel Charities in South Carolina by the Secretary of State.

Our mission has stayed the same - Protect Those Who Protect Us.  We will not stop until every law enforcement officer in America is provided a free personal body armor vest.

According to the financial information filed with the SC Dept of Revenue office, In-Vest USA devoted  98.6% of its total expenses to program services during the fiscal year ending June 2011.
