Iridescent

Technovation is the technology entrepreneurship program for girls. The 3-month program matches teams of five young women with female professional mentors in technology or engineering to research, design, build, and launch mobile apps that solve real problems in their communities. No coding experience is necessary and the program is completely free.

Technovation is a global program, with girls all over the world creating app prototypes and business plans each season. But we started in the Bay Area, and it's to Silicon Valley that we invite the finalists to make their pitch each year, recognizing the importance of showing these young women exactly where they can find themselves working and innovating as adults. 

How it Works: Teams of up to 5 middle school and high school girls-- most with zero prior coding experience -- work with professional women mentors to develop mobile applications. They research, design, code, and pitch their application prototypes to seasoned technology industry professionals. Regional pitch competitions are held in metropolitan areas all over the world, and the program brings the top 10 teams from around the world to compete for $20k in total awards at World Pitch in Silicon Valley in the Spring.
