The International Services Council of Alabama (ISC) promotes international relationships through citizen diplomacy and enriches Alabama’s education, commerce and global awareness.

ISC, located in Huntsville, was founded in 1965 as an outreach of the Huntsville Rotary Club to welcome international military trainees to the Arsenal and connect them with the community. In the late 1960’s, ISC was designated by the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to implement the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) for the State of Alabama. IVLP is the premier professional exchange program funded and administered by the U.S. DoS’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

ISC carefully designs personalized programs of study for emerging international leaders selected by American embassies around the globe and sent to Alabama by the U.S. Department of State. Programs reflect the professional and cultural interests of the visiting leaders, while supporting the foreign policy goals of the DoS.

ISC sends international visitors to Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, Mobile and surrounding areas. ISC is always looking for volunteers to meet with or host international professional visitors.
