The Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston, established in 1978 as the Federation of Italian American organizations of Greater Houston, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to advance, celebrate and preserve Italian culture and heritage through educational, cultural and social offerings for Houstonians of Italian descent, Italian expatriates living here, and Italophiles, individuals who, regardless of nationality, are interested in Italy and its culture. One of the many ways in which the ICCC fulfills its mission is through the operation of La scuola d’italiano, our language school for children and adults established in 1990.
The Italian Cultural & Community Center’s La scuola d’italiano teaches and promotes the Italian language and culture through integrated language classes held at the ICCC year-round ranging from beginner to advanced level. Our curriculum is unique in numerous ways and has been updated to mirror the Common European Union Framework of Foreign Languages (CEFR). The program is designed to provide an inviting, dynamic learning environment to everyone interested in gaining knowledge about Italy. The students of the ICCC language school include a wide range of ages, socio-economic backgrounds and cultures.
