Jacob's Story
Jacob was born with Down Syndrome. Like other children with developmental disabilities, Jacob needed regular therapy sessions for the first six years of his life so that he could learn to walk, run, talk, and play like other kids his age. But services were hard to find and required traveling to another county several times a week to get specialized pediatric therapy.
Because of Jacob, we opened Jacob's Ladder in 1998 in Porter County, Indiana. Mariann Frigo, an occupational therapist, is Jacob's mom, and she knew firsthand the importance of obtaining quality therapy services during the early development of special needs children.
Early intervention makes the difference in a child's ability to do well in school, develop a circle of friends, and, eventually, to be gainfully employed as an adult. We are here to provide the tools and resources to parents so that your child can achieve their potential.
Jacob's Ladder is a participant in the Indiana First Steps program, in addition to offering center-based therapy. The staff of Jacob's Ladder offers over 50 years of combined experience in pediatric care. Our team of occupational, physical, and speech therapists have specialty training and certification in pediatric therapy and all are trained in child and infant CPR and basic first aid.
