Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada Inc

A want versus a need.  How to balance a checkbook.  Don’t you wish that someone had taught you those things as you were growing up?  You could be that person who connects students with these basic financial concepts by supporting Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada.

Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. It's not an easy task. But it's the kind of challenge that JA takes on with creative energy, fervor, and decisive action. 

Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada was established in 1996 and partners with the Clark County School District to ensure that students receive curriculum based financial literacy training in the classroom that meets Nevada state standards. We accomplish our mission of inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy through volunteers teaching our JA programs which focus on financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.  By connecting learning to earning our students have the inspiration they need to stay in school and receive the skills they need to enter the workforce. 

Why is this important? It’s important because many of the students in our community do not understand the connection between learning and earning or how to master basic financial principals such as saving, earning and entrepreneurship.  And when students have the essential skills needed to enter the workforce, our whole community benefits.

We’ve been able to partner with the business community, educators and volunteers to inspire over 19,000 students in 2016-2017 to dream big and reach their potential. And more than 700 teachers in 40 public and private schools will integrate Junior Achievement programs into their classrooms throughout Clark County this year.  In order to do so Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada will be utilizing over 1,000 volunteers during the 2017-2018 school year.  To date we have impacted the lives of over 370,000 students and have empowered them to own their economic success.
