$10,000 Goal
On April 9 from 8 AM – 8 PM, our community will come together for NWA Gives, a day dedicated to generosity across Northwest Arkansas. This year we have set a BIG goal—because the need in our community continues to grow. But we also serve a BIG God and live in an incredibly generous community, and together we believe lives can be changed.
Your support helps sustain the life-saving services provided by 29:11 Healing & Recovery Center, allowing us to serve individuals and families affected by substance use disorder across our region.
The Reality in Arkansas
Substance use disorder continues to impact families across our state.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse and other public health agencies:
Arkansas continues to face high rates of substance use disorder involving opioids, methamphetamine, and alcohol.
Data from the Arkansas Department of Health reported approximately 500 opioid-related overdose deaths in 2022, representing hundreds of families devastated by loss.
Methamphetamine remains one of the most prevalent drugs in the state, and the Arkansas Department of Human Services reports it as a leading substance involved in drug-related arrests and treatment admissions.
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, approximately 9% of Arkansas residents age 12 and older report heavy alcohol use, slightly higher than the national average.
Even more heartbreaking is that more than half of individuals struggling with substance use disorder never receive the treatment they need.
For many, the barriers are overwhelming: cost, lack of access, transportation challenges, and limited treatment availability in rural communities.
Expanding Hope in Our Community
Because the need is so great, 29:11 Healing & Recovery Center has expanded its services.
What began as an outpatient treatment program has now grown to include medical detoxification and residential treatment, allowing individuals to receive a full continuum of care—from the first critical days of detox through long-term recovery support.
This expansion means we can now walk with individuals through every stage of recovery, providing stability, support, and a real opportunity for lasting change.
Removing Barriers to Treatment
For many individuals, access to treatment is the difference between life and death.
That’s why we established the John Schubert Scholarship Fund, named in honor of a beloved member of our community who lost his life to substance use. This fund provides treatment opportunities for uninsured and underinsured individuals who otherwise could not afford care.
Because of this scholarship fund, 7 individuals have been able to receive treatment since May 2024 who otherwise would not have had access.
But the need continues to grow.
Our Goal
This year for NWA Gives, we are working to raise $25,000 to replenish the John Schubert Scholarship Fund so that even more individuals can access detox, residential treatment, and recovery services in the year ahead.
Every dollar given helps open the door to recovery for someone who may otherwise be turned away.
Why Recovery Matters for the Entire Community
Substance use treatment does more than change one life—it strengthens the entire community.
When individuals receive treatment, we see:
• Reduced overdose deaths and substance-related harm
• Lower crime and legal system costs
• Improved physical and mental health outcomes
• Restored families and healthier homes for children
• Increased workplace stability and productivity
• Reduced stigma and stronger, healthier communities
Recovery creates ripple effects that transform lives, families, and communities.
Be Part of Someone’s Second Chance
We have seen firsthand that recovery is possible. Lives are restored. Families are reunited. Hope returns.
But none of this happens without the support of our community.
Your gift today could be the reason someone finally receives the help they desperately need.
Donate. Share. Pray. Spread the word.
Together, we can show our neighbors that there is hope and a future waiting for them.
