Do You Know Someone Who Needs Financial Help for Food, Clothing, Shelter, or Medical Bills?

Founded in 1985, the mission of the Jewish Assistance Fund has been to provide immediate financial assistance to those in need of food, clothing, shelter, and medicine. This aid is provided to individuals or families who need immediate cash to help them over a desperate period.

The Jewish Assistance Fund fulfills a major need in the Pittsburgh community and is not duplicated by any other agency.

In addition to individual grants, the Jewish Assistance Fund makes substantial contributions to the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry to help the needy among us purchase fresh meat, poultry, fish and other staples.

Testimonials:

• Mrs M. was in an abusive marriage and no means of income. She needed to leave her husband for the safety of herself and two young children. She asked JAF for financial help to begin her new life.

• Mrs G. was recently diagnosed with a serious chronic illness that needed special and very expensive medication. She asked JAF for help in buying the prescriptions she needed.

• Mr. T. worked on commission but work had dwindled. He used up his savings for shelter, clothing and food, and he could no longer provide for his family. Eviction was imminent.
