Jim McHugh was born September 19th, 1942 in Philadelphia, the oldest of six children.  Immediately he knew the importance of family values, good morals and an outstanding work ethic. When he was 16, he was so eager to serve his country, he lied about his age and joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served for four years.  Upon his return, he knew the importance of education, so he went back to school.  He would go on to have his own family of five sons and two daughters.  He would instill his belief in higher education to his own children and worked as many hours as he could to provide for them.  Jim made a profound impact on the lives of his family, friends and coworkers.  He taught them the importance of education, respect for self and others, generosity, thoughtfulness, responsibility, and an excellent work ethic and how to apply all of these principles in their daily lives.  In recognition to Jim's life, 40 years of service at the Philadelphia Refinery, his commitment to education and safety, we have established the Jim McHugh Memorial Scholarship Fund.
