John Muir Foundation was incorporated in 1979 to raise philanthropic funds for the benefit of John Muir Medical Center, a not-for-profit institution. The Foundation has raised more than $21 million to support the development of programs and services that preserve and protect the health of the community. Today, in a managed care environment, raising philanthropic funds is a necessity to assure the quality of care that community members expect and deserve. The generosity of many individuals and foundations has made it possible to purchase the most advanced medical technology and to continually improve and update John Muir Medical Center's facilities.
