ABOUT US

Founded in 1998, Johnson Health Center (JHC) is a non-profit, independent, federally qualified health center serving the City of Lynchburg and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Our mission is to provide affordable and comprehensive healthcare with quality services and strong community partnerships to improve access to healthcare for all. Governed by a board of directors made up of at least 51% of our patients, Johnson Health Center ensures the needs of the community are at the heart of everything we do. Community Health Centers, like Johnson Health Center, were established over 50 years ago to expand healthcare access in medically underserved areas. We accept all insurance types and offer a sliding fee scale for individuals who qualify, making healthcare accessible to everyone.

OUR SERVICES

Johnson Health Center is proud to offer comprehensive healthcare services to anyone seeking care, with integrated access to pharmacy, behavioral health, and dental services. We serve areas where economic, geographic, or cultural barriers often limit access to affordable care, ensuring no one is left behind. Through our focus on coordinated care management for patients with multiple healthcare needs and the use of quality improvement practices, Johnson Health Center works to reduce health disparities and promote better health outcomes. Since 2017, we have increased patient access by 44%. In 2024 alone, Johnson health Center served more than 28,000 individual patients across nearly 1000,000 visits.
