Joseph N Hermann Youth Center Inc

In 1998, ten years after NAYS was established, programs and services were being operated out of some sixteen sites throughout the town.  It became apparent that in order to better serve the community, NAYS would need a site to serve as a multipurpose youth center.

 

The Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center, Inc. was formed five years earlier specifically to help the town and NAYS address this critical need.   A partnership between the Hermann Youth Center Board, the North Andover Youth Services and town officials has accomplished a great deal in this time, but not without the constant support from the community itself. 

 

The parcel of land upon which the Youth Center would be built (with a value of $400,000) was donated by the Community Center, Inc.   In the course of planning the Youth Center, it was found that project needs increased the total cost of construction and furnishing the Youth Center to $2,454,000.   The town voted $975,000 of funds to be devoted to this project.   The Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center Board raised the additional money in donations and pledges from individuals, foundations, corporations and special event fundraisers. 

In the summer of 2000, the doors of the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center were opened and the dream became a reality.

The Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center houses a regulation gymnasium, game room, rock climbing wall, weight room, kitchen, lounge, multipurpose room, computer room, outdoor basketball court, skate area, outside gathering areas, and counseling and administrative offices.
