$50,000 Goal

During its 31 years, HCRI, Inc. has been in existence, we gained a better understanding of the social determinants of diseases, social and behavioral change strategies, and strategies to reduce health and health care disparities.

As homelessness increased in the Sacramento area, HCRI, Inc. found that the most underserved population of all - the homeless - was experiencing more untreated serious diseases and no palliative and/or hospice care. This led to a commitment to reduce the number of terminally ill homeless dying on our streets and along our rivers. Beginning in 2017, HCRI, Inc. has focused on raising the money to create a community providing comfort care and hospice care, shelter, clothing, personal items and music/art/writing therapies for eligible terminally ill, homeless men and women. Trained and certified End of Life Doulas will offer their services to residents of Joshua's House, which will be staffed by health professionals, trained hospice volunteers. All services and care will be offered free to eligible terminally ill, homeless individuals while hospice services will be provided by local health systems.
