Joy of Jasper Inc

In one short year, Jasper changed the life of a young girl. Jasper arrived at the Therapeutic Equestrian Center, where she volunteered with the therapeutic riding program, in fairly rough shape. Like Jasper, the adolescent girl was also in desperate need of love, self-esteem and confidence. The young girl gave her time, her attention and her heart to Jasper, and Jasper gave her unconditional love and trust. Together, they built self-esteem and confidence. Both the young girl and Jasper blossomed, until soon they were winning champion ribbons in the show ring together.    

Unfortunately, Jasper’s soundness was always an issue, and many hours went into taking care of his hooves and legs. After a tragic accident while out in his paddock, Jasper shattered all of the bones in his hoof and had to be put down.  That day, the young girl's heart was also shattered. 

 Many years later, the young girl, who was now a grown woman, finally understood why he had to leave. She founded The Joy of Jasper in his memory to help horses in need and to connect those horses with area youth who could benefit from those same gifts that Jasper gave her as a young girl.  

 The Joy of Jasper is the joy that comes from taking care of and being with an animal as magnificent as a horse or pony. The Joy of Jasper is also the joy that the horse or pony feels when he knows that he has found a way to our pastures. Horses and ponies that are surrendered to The Joy of Jasper are never put up for adoption. These special equines are cared for by The Joy of Jasper until they pass away.  At the Joy of Jasper, we change the life of a horse that can change the life of a child.
