Joy of Music School

The Joy of Music School needs your help!

Starting at noon on July 18, the Joy of Music School will compete for a chance to win between $10,000 and $100,000 through the “A Community Thrives” fundraising competition! 

We are looking for 20 people who will donate just $1.37 per day for a year to sponsor one child. Each sponsorship will provide one year of free music lessons and instruments to a deserving kid. 

If you can't sponsor a child for a year @ $500, how about six months @ $250? Or three months @ $83? Or one month @ $41? 

You could also host a fundraiser (click the button above) and get your family and friends involved. Together, we can ALL make a difference!

All donations no matter the size are welcome and will help us reach our minimum goal of $6,000. 

A Community Thrives is a challenge grant program set up by the Gannett Foundation and USA Today. It challenges nonprofits to raise a minimum of $6,000 by August 12, 2022 via this website. Once we reach $6,000, the Joy of Music School will qualify to compete for further grants ranging up to $100,000. Whoo hoo!!

The Joy of Music School provides quality music education programs to Knoxville area children from our most vulnerable communities. Instruments, weekly lessons, and ensemble classes offered by the School help build self-esteem, discipline, and a love for learning through music… all at no charge to students.

You know the value of music in a young person’s life is precious…and it’s needed now more than ever!  Teen suicides, emotional difficulties, and drug overdoses are at all-time highs.

The good news is that music has a unique ability to transform emotional pain into a healing balm. 

With over 120 deserving kids getting instruction from more than 50 volunteers, we put your donations to work ensuring teachers and students have everything they need. Your support also helps hundreds more disadvantaged kids in Boys & Girls Clubs and other after-school sites across East Tennessee.

And it works. Not only do our students get better grades, but they also exhibit improved self-confidence and happiness. We’ve also placed numerous graduates in colleges on music scholarships. 

Your gift today will ensure hundreds of marginalized children and teens can connect with a mentor through music and build their confidence and self-worth through art and discipline.
