JOYFUL RESCUES HELPING MILL DOGS IN PERIL!

Joyful Rescues has recently taken in several dogs from a puppy mill/breeding facility operating right here in our very own Western New York! Of course, we've been doing this for years on the east coast, but the mill situation in New York State seems to be getting worse instead of better. We are so ashamed this cruelty is still legal, and sadly this is only one of several hundreds of puppy mills operating in our own back yards!

These dogs will require extensive, EXPENSIVE, specialized medical care, yet there was no way we could turn our backs on their pain. Some have luxating patella's, eye disease, multiple mammary tumors, severe skin disease resulting in nearly BALD dogs, and more. Our highly skilled, compassionate veterinarians generously reduce their fees to help. What keeps our hearts beating is knowing that all of the most recent can be saved, treated and look forward to a new quality of life and LOVE! Joyful Rescues clings to this hope and continues to help as many of these abused companions as we can as part of our overall mission in dog rescue. 

Although this abuse exists in our area, we are also home to a multitude of amazing humans with a high level of compassion, determination and generosity who are willing to step up, get involved and donate to help provide the care and love they have been denied. 

We apologize for such human cruelty through tears and hugs, and hopefully help them realize not all humans are cruel and inhumane. We hope they understand, and we feel they do when we catch that glimmer in their eyes. Our efforts require much more than money. Our efforts require TIME. Time to heal not only medical ailments, but to watch them evolve as they learn to trust us. Seeing a tail wag a bit, getting that first kiss on our hand, noticing they stop trembling when we approach...these things take time, but they DO happen. When they do, we celebrate through more tears and hugs, but these are happy tears and hugs! These are the tears and hugs that make all the heartbroken times in the beginning worth the pain!

We are currently caring for about two dozen puppy mill dogs at Joyful Rescues. Sadly, there are countless more still waiting for our help.

The money we raise through Giving Tuesday donations will be allocated to provide medical care specifically for abused, neglected mill dogs to mend their bodies, ease their pain, heal their hearts and seek out those very special individuals who will give these dogs a loving forever home and help put their past years  of suffering behind them. We are grateful that there are so many people out there who support our effort to help as many as we can. With your continued support we will have the resources to continue our fight to help abused animals, and hopefully live to see the day when our laws have changed and these puppy mills cease to exist.
