The Junior League of Bakersfield is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Junior League of Bakersfield provides enabling fund grants and project grants to local non-profits that fit in the mission of JLB. Some of our current projects are Birthday Parties at the Bakersfield Homeless Center, a reading program at the Jamison Center, and a collaberation with Garden Pathways for the GAP (Girls Achievement Program), a program for pre-emancipated foster girls.
The Junior League of Bakersfield was founded in 1965. In 2015, JLB celebrated the 50th Anniversary by awarding a $50,000 grant to the Kern County Museum for the Lori Brock Discovery Center.
Junior League of Bakersfield is a group of women volunteers and are always looking for new volunteers and members.

Together, we can make a greater difference today, tomorrow, and for many years to come!
For the past 60 years, the Junior League of Bakersfield has taken action across our community, and this past year was no different. In the face of uncertain times, our members have remained unwavering in our service and support when our community needed us most.
Almost 400 members have contributed thousands of hours of volunteer service and funds to the greater Bakersfield community, enormously impacting our city.
Through our focus area on improving literacy, we are collaborating with the Kern Literacy Council to help children and families get excited about reading.
Gifts are a vital source of funding where we need it most, from supporting our community projects and providing member training to meeting the pressing needs of our organization.
Please consider donating to support our mission to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
Sincerely,
Melanie Schroedter
President, 2023-2025, Junior League of Bakersfield

The Junior League of Bakersfield is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We support efforts pertaining to the welfare of women and children in our community.
A group of young women decided to join forces to develop a new form of voluntarism unrelated to schools and churches and the Community League of Kern County was chartered in l952. The structure of the organization was developed with the vision of becoming a member of the Junior League. In 1965, the JLB was accepted as the 202nd member of AJLI.
The Junior League of Bakersfield has a community center located at 1928 19th street, as result of a donation by the Wheeler Foundation. In 2004, JLB was recognized by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Beautiful Bakersfield award in the commercial building category.
