Kane's Krusade

Kane's Krusade provides a missing link in the animal welfare system.  We work with families in need, right in their homes, to address the root problems that cause dogs to be surrendered to shelters.  Our Canine Assistance, Resources and Empowerment (C.A.R.E.) Kits provide food, treats, toys, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchips, medical care, behavioral training and equipment such as leashes, collars, harnesses and crates.  We address the common reasons why dogs are given up to shelters.

We currently provide monthly C.A.R.E. Kits to over 60 dogs, adding new families regularly.  In addition, we provide spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchips to dogs of families in need that can't afford even low-cost options.  We also donate and deliver insulated Kondos (customized dog houses) to outdoor dogs that cannot live inside each month.

Another service we provide is tenant advocacy.  We collaborate with local Housing Authorities, landlords and property managers to secure dog-friendly housing for our families.  We also work with insurance companies that do not discriminate against certain breeds of dog to provide home owner's, renter's and dog liability policies.

What makes us different is our non-judgmental approach.  We offer creative solutions to help people care for their dogs.  Our families in need are the unemployed, elderly, disabled, veterans and/or people living on a fixed income.  We create a circle of compassion where our families get involved and help other families in our program, Paying It Forward.  This year we have had a major, positive shift in our Pay It Forward philopsophy.  We now have a Family Council, comprised of the families we serve, and who support our organization through various projects and volunteering opportunities.  We are very proud that our family members now complete a majority of the work and time involved in orchestrating the services we provide on a monthly basis.  They are living our mission!
