Katgirl & Friends Inc

KatGirl and Friends Inc. is a 501c3 that is dedicated to educating children of all ages on looking beyond someone’s physical appearance and truly getting to know them.  KatGirl and Friends accomplishes this goal by sharing both written and real life stories! 

The founder of KatGirl and Friends, Katherine Magnoli,  does this by visiting schools all over Miami Dade and Broward County! During her presentations, Katherine helps breakdown stereotypes that people with disabilities may face in society. She accomplishes this by getting the students to open up about their feelings regarding her own disability and use of a wheelchair. Without judgment, she introduces her characters that represents various disabilities. Including a superhero in a wheelchair.  

After  having an interactive storytime session, virtual or in person, she poses the question "Now, how do you feel seeing me in a wheelchair?"   This question is met with a "You're so cool! Does your chair fly, too?!"

K&F, also, helps to educate those going into the therapy and/or education field best practices to make their client or student living with a disability get the optimal care that they deserve.

Lastly, KatGirl and Friends is working on expanding their reach by taking the already existing stories ; along with newly , not yet published, stories and turning them into an animated series! 

Each donation helps me continue my work and reach a larger audience by publishing new stories that teach the reader that we all have something special inside of us!
