OUR WORK:

St. Sophia is a neighborhood lifeline, located in the Weinland Park district of Columbus OH (close to The Ohio State University's campus). More than 180 desperately-needed hot meals are served daily, to the rapidly-skyrocketing homeless and needy population. Many homeless rely on the wet blanket exchange program the church mission offers as well.

The mission has been serving this Columbus inner-city community since 2002, where everyone knows the Archbishop Mor Cassianus simply as "Father".

My wife and I have personally helped with serving the meals, and met so many of the people.  At the church mission, Father has a volunteer staff who are incredible, and the people who come into their doors are incredible as well... especially the children.

• Besides the meals and blankets, the church's crisis counseling is used everyday.
• The mission has created an emergency alert network for fast response to neighborhood residents.
• Bishop Cassian offers an orthodox church service every Sunday and welcomes everyone to attend.

HERE IS WHAT IS NEEDED:

St . Sophia is run completely on donations from community members who see the need to use our own resources, supporting the incredible work done in this Columbus inner-city neighborhood mission.  It takes people like you and me, who donate our resources to keep the meals and services supplied daily.

HERE'S WHAT WE ARE DOING:

If you DONATE NOW, your support will help supply meals immediately.  Our hope is that many of us can sign up for recurring donations monthly. It can be a small amount, $25, $10, or another monthly amount. If you have resources available, more is better and small amounts from many are what is really needed.  If you wish for your help to be ongoing, please be sure to click the 'Donate Monthly' checkbox to give the gift that keeps on giving, working to keep this mission serving the neighborhood.

It is because of generous donors like you, that the incredible work being done in this community continues for all that need these  services.  Archbishop Mor Cassianus runs this mission on an all-volunteer staff, with some incredible neighborhood volunteerism.

Our goal to is raise $3000 each month. This will help to purchase the food and supplies for the meals, as well as pay the bills at the church.  St. Sophia is a lifeline to this neighborhood of Columbus. You are our benefactors who empower this critical ministry's ability to serve the neighborhood.
