For 25 years, KTMB has been providing an alternative to litter and illegal dumping through community education and cleanup/beautification projects in the Truckee Meadows.

We have greatly reduced the number of illegal dumpsites accessible by 2-wheel drive roads, and now need a 4-wheel drive truck to continue combating this economic and health hazard in our community. We get so much help from local 4-wheel drive groups and our volunteers, but our poor personal vehicles can no longer take the beating, and we need a rugged KTMB truck to keep up with tool delivery and dumpsite reporting and cleanup.

Litter and illegal dumping are hidden hazards that take an incredible toll on our community’s health and economy. Illegal dumping costs the community by deterring new business, housing and tourism, and gives nothing back.

Disposing of trash and hazardous waste properly – so it doesn’t poison our drinking water and wildlife – costs money. Businesses that recycle and dispose of hazardous waste employ our friends and neighbors and support the local economy.

Education about illegal dumping is why events like KTMB’s Great Community Cleanup, Truckee River Cleanup Day, Christmas Tree Recycling, and many more, are so important. The work of KTMB volunteers, both at events and as ambassadors in the community, raise awareness about these hazards.

KTMB works with more than 3,000 volunteers from Northern Nevada and neighboring areas every year. For more information on how you can get involved as a volunteer or donate to our community-funded organization, visit ktmb.org, e-mail staff@ktmb.org, or call 775.851.5185.

We’re working with your friends, neighbors and employers to make the Truckee Meadows America’s most beautiful community.

All we need is you!
