Kentucky Reptile Zoo is more than just a zoo. We strive to impact the lives of people and reptiles around the world through our work. Our mission is threefold: to teach the public about reptile ecology, to support reptile conservation, and to provide life-saving venoms for medical research.

Our main facility exhibits reptiles from around the world- everything from copperheads and rattlesnakes to mambas and king cobras! Visitors to the beautiful Red River Gorge have a chance to see and learn about the great biodiversity of snakes and other reptiles at KRZ. We also do outreach programs, travelling to over 100 schools and libraries each year across the state to teach ecology through the lens of this unique group of animals.

The venom lab at Kentucky Reptile Zoo is one of a small handful across the country, and plays a vital role by offering a multitude of venoms that can and have been used for a variety of developments. Our venoms are currently in use for such projects as a diagnostic tool for lupus, a treatment for non small cell lung cancer, and antivenom abroad.

As a nonprofit, we want to use our knowledge and passion to enhance the lives of reptiles and the humans that live alongside them, to foster a curiosity and respect for a group of animals who are often feared and villainized. Your support drives our passion forward, and we thank you for your contribution!
