Kern Community Foundation is a vibrant nonprofit enterprise in Bakersfield, California, with a powerfully simple mission of growing community and growing philanthropy. The Foundation is known as a home for local philanthropists, a results-oriented grantmaker, and a trusted community leader.

The Foundation actively serves the community through its two strategic initiatives:

Our College Access initiative includes scholarships, student counseling, services assesment, and stakeholder engagement with local educators. 

Our Nonprofit Strengthening initiative focuses on increasing the viability of our local nonprofits to ensure they will exist for this and future generations. This is done through opportunities in capacity, visibility, and sustainability.
